What is the SAN–HAK?
New regulations are sweeping the nation regulating yard hydrants that drain back underground. Up until now, in states with such regulations the option was a specially-designed, expensive ($600 or more) hydrant that didn’t drain into the ground.
Now there’s a simple, less-expensive solution – Sanitary Hydrant Assist Kit (SAN-HAK). SAN-HAK allows you to attach ANY hydrant to a waterline and still be in compliance with regulations.
The SAN-HAK is a Hydrant Assist Kit (hydrant encasement system) that allows full access to a hydrant for quick removal and repair without the use of a backhoe or excavator.
This unit is designed with a quick attach check valve system for a quick removal of the hydrant (the check valve allows the hydrant to be removed without shutting any water off or draining any water mains down). The hydrant can be removed in approximately 1 to 2 minutes after you remove the cap from the Hydrant Assist Kit. The hydrant can then be repaired or replaced (again in minutes).
The SAN-HAK comes with an air line that can be attached to the drain hole of any hydrant that has a tap hole with a 1/8" NPT. A rechargeable portable air tank is used to blow the hydrant down when temperatures are below freezing.
The SAN-HAK comes in two models:
- SAN-HAK-750 This SAN-HAK is designed to fit all 1" galvanized pipe with ¾" NPT inlets and a quick attach check valve system. This model is also designed with a cast 3" 2 piece locking cap with a built in Schraeder valve and air tube and fitting to hook up.
- SAN-HAK-1000 This SAN-HAK is designed to fit all ¼" galvanized pipe with 1" NPT inlets and a quick attach check valve system. This model is also designed with a 4" PVC compression cap.
An 11-gallon portable air tank is also available from Seppmann Enterprises.
